Commissioner/Secretary Industry and Commerce Engages with Key Stakeholders in Jammu and Kashmir

 

Srinagar, Jammu and Kashmir –19th October,2023.  In a collaborative effort to stimulate economic growth and foster business development in the region, an interactive session was convened by the Jammu and Kashmir Trade Promotion Organization (JKTPO). The event, which was part of the ongoing activities of the Investor Facilitation Meet, took place at the prestigious JK Heritage Arts Emporium in Srinagar on 19th October,2023

The event commenced with a heartfelt welcome from Managing Director JKTPO Sh. Khalid Jahangir, setting the tone for a collaborative and engaging session. He underscored the significance of the gathering in fostering economic growth and business development in the region. MD JKTPO expressed his appreciation for the presence of the dignitaries from various trade associations and industry sectors, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the business landscape of Jammu and Kashmir.

The interactive session witnessed the active participation of a diverse spectrum of industrial associations and business bodies, including the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), the CA Store Association, Kashmir Carpet Cluster Development Organizations (KCCDO), Meeras, Tahafuz and various Small-Scale Industrial Associations.

The Commissioner/Secretary of Industry and Commerce for Jammu and Kashmir, Sh. Vikramjit Singh IPS, played a pivotal role in orchestrating this event, recognizing the critical importance of engaging with key stakeholders in shaping the future business landscape of the region.

During the interactive session, representatives from these esteemed trade bodies and associations actively provided their invaluable insights, suggestions, and recommendations. Their inputs encompassed various aspects of business activities in Jammu and Kashmir, spanning investment opportunities, regulatory reforms, infrastructure development, and the overall business climate.

Sh. Vikramjit Singh IPS expressed his gratitude for the robust participation and the thoughtful contributions made by the trade bodies and associations. He emphasized the government's commitment to creating a business-friendly environment, where the private sector plays a significant role in the economic growth of the region.

The session was marked by a vibrant exchange of ideas and a strong sense of camaraderie amongst all the stakeholders, underscoring the shared goal of fostering economic growth and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir.

Interactive session, at the JK Arts Emporium in Srinagar, witnessed the active participation of distinguished delegates from prominent trade associations and industry leaders which included, Mr. Javid Ahmed Tenga, Chairman, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), Mr. Vicky Shaw, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI), Mr. Bilal Ahmad, KCCDO, Mr. Khursheed, Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Mr. Irfan Guju, Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), Mr. GN Dar, Meeras Carpets, Mr. Afaq Qadri, Textile Park Zakura, Mr. Mohd Rafiq, Tahafuz, Mr. Umar Manzoor, Pampore saffron Farmers association,  and other representatives from various associations in Kashmir.

 

Sh. Vikramjit Singh IPS concluded the session by reaffirming the government's dedication to implementing constructive changes based on the recommendations received during the event. He also encouraged ongoing collaboration between the government and industry stakeholders, reinforcing the need for a unified effort to drive innovation and sustainable development in the region.


The interactive session served as a testament to the commitment of JKTPO and the government of Jammu and Kashmir to create a favorable investment climate and promote economic activities that will benefit the entire region.
